Jean Robert, known as Ipoustéguy, was born in Dun-sur-Meuse in 1920. A major sculptor from the second half of the 20th century, he produced almost 600 sculptures, and around a hundred watercolours, drawings and paintings. His works are preserved in some of the world’s largest public collections and his monumental sculptures feature in major cities and capitals across the globe, such as Paris, Lyon, Berlin, Washington and Tokyo.

Ipoustéguy spent his last years in Meuse, in Doulcon, where he died in 2006. This booklet, a re-issue of the work published at the time by the Meuse department, looks back at the life and works of this artist. It’s an essential companion for anyone visiting the Ipoustéguy Gallery in the Val Dunois cultural centre in Dun-sur-Meuse, where the largest collection of Ipoustéguy’s works is on display.
